Dominos: Part 1
I just finished doing some final touch ups on Atlantis Anat’ellon #5. While I was reading through I noticed how far it’s already strayed from my original vision of the story. As part of my behind the scenes coverage I’m going to be doing a multi-part article on some of those little things that had a big impact.
Jeremy has always been a large guy who just happened to be smart. In my original notes on the story he and Ray are more than just verbal sparring partners though. Originally Jeremy’s translation of the tablet was going to happen completely behind the scenes and Jeremy was going to join Ray in the action parts of the story. In fact that was my intention even when I was writing the beginning of issue 1. I always intended for Ray to be better at it, but Jeremy was no slouch. By the time I got to my first rewrite of issue 1 I had changed my mind. Jeremy became much more of a book worm. Sure he’s big and athletic, but he’s not much for confrontation, unless it’s verbal confrontation. That change lead to more character scenes and less action in the first four issues of Atlantis and some interesting character developments. I’ll save some of those details for part two of this article, once people have had a chance to read issue 4.
Later this week look for a character profile for Jeremy.
